Renewable Energy Grid Integration · Tampa, FL

Connecting renewables to the grid, from feasibility to energization.

Coastal Grid Energy Partners guides developers, utilities, and large energy users through every stage of putting clean generation on the wire. We turn interconnection complexity into a clear, executable path.

About Us

Infrastructure thinking for the energy transition.

Coastal Grid Energy Partners is an independent consultancy based in Tampa, Florida, focused on one of the hardest problems in clean energy: getting new generation and storage connected to the grid, reliably and on schedule. We work at the intersection of engineering, utilities, and regulation — the place where good projects either move forward or stall.

The practice is led by principal consultant Jason McAllister, who built his career inside interconnection queues, utility planning departments, and project development teams. Jason founded Coastal Grid on a simple observation: most renewable projects don't fail on economics — they fail on integration. Our job is to see those obstacles early and engineer a way through them.

We keep our engagements deliberately focused. You work directly with senior people, your questions get straight answers, and every study we deliver is written to be acted on — not filed away.

Our Expertise

Six disciplines. One connected outcome.

From the first feasibility screen to the final commissioning test, we cover the technical and regulatory ground between a project on paper and power on the grid.

Grid Interconnection Studies

We prepare and interpret the feasibility, system impact, and facilities studies that determine whether — and at what cost — your project connects. Our analysis anticipates network upgrade exposure before it becomes a queue-position surprise.

Utility-Scale Solar & Wind Integration

We advise on plant design, reactive power capability, and performance requirements so utility-scale solar and wind facilities meet grid codes from day one. That means fewer redesigns, cleaner commissioning, and faster commercial operation.

Battery Storage & Resilience Planning

We size, site, and model battery energy storage for arbitrage, capacity, and resilience use cases — standalone or co-located. Our planning work ties dispatch strategy to interconnection limits so the asset you build is the asset you can operate.

Microgrid Feasibility Analysis

We evaluate whether a campus, port, or critical facility can justify a microgrid — technically, economically, and operationally. You receive a decision-grade assessment covering generation mix, islanding capability, controls, and utility coordination.

Regulatory & Permitting Navigation

We map the federal, state, and utility approvals your project actually needs and sequence them against your development schedule. From FERC filings to local siting, we keep the paper moving so the project can.

Grid Modernization Advisory

We help utilities and public agencies plan for a grid with high renewable penetration — hosting capacity, advanced inverters, DER management, and flexibility markets. Our roadmaps connect long-term vision to near-term capital decisions.

  1. Feasibility

Site screening, preliminary interconnection assessment, technology fit, and a go/no-go recommendation grounded in grid reality — before you commit serious capital.

  2. Interconnection

Queue strategy, study management, upgrade cost negotiation, and agreement review. We manage the utility process so milestones hold and surprises don't.

  3. Commissioning Support

Energization planning, performance testing coordination, and compliance documentation through to commercial operation — the last mile, done right.
